Primary Reading Day

The birth anniversary of our dear Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was celebrated on the 15th of October. As he was an avid reader, we at St. Stanislaus High School celebrated it as reading day. There were numerous activities held to encourage reading.

The children were asked to bring their favourite story books to read in class. The 1st and 2nd std. boys were also informed to come dressed as their favourite fairy tale character and a few boys read their stories out aloud in class. The boys of std. 3 and 4, after reading their books, either gave a gist of their story to the rest of the class or they wrote a character sketch on the book they read.

For Craft, they made a bookmark in class. In the Media Centre the teachers encouraged the boys to read by putting up informative reading software. A book fair was also held, where a variety of books were displayed.

The importance of reading was stressed by the teacher to make them aware that reading improves concentration, vocabulary and develops language and writing skills. Reading also helps their imagination soar and relaxes and calms their minds.

This poem sums it nicely:
‘Books are our friends
Forget them not
They expect nothing but
Offer you a lot
Give you knowledge of all sorts
Books are your best friends
Forget them not.

St. Stanislaus Primary Interclass Football Tournament

Started with a ‘KICK’.....Interclass Football Tournament for Std III and IV.
Stanislites are not only known for their excellence in academics but also for achieving their goal in sports. Thus, we began this academic year 2015 – 2016 with an ‘INTERCLASS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT’ of the 3rd and the 4th Standard.

The matches started from the  8th of July till the 15th of July. Mr. Cecil Correia was the referee for all the matches. The boys were very enthusiastic, determined, excited and played with ‘TEAM SPIRIT’. The boys played the matches with the belief that winning or losing is just a part of the game, but PARTICIPATING is what matters. The boys who did not participate in the game did the most fantastic job of CHEERING for their class.

With this spirit of sportsmanship and participation, the boys of class III D and IV B won the ‘FINAL MATCH’.

Ho! Ho! Ho! It’s time to celebrate Christmas

The Christmas celebration at School began in the first week of December with the Stanislites preparing the symbols of Christmas in their Craft classes. The symbols like the Star, Christmas Tree, Candle were later put on display around the School. The crib was placed in the Assembly shed for public viewing.

The Stanislites put the theme of Christmas –Caring and sharing into practice by collecting stationery articles, toiletries and edibles for the needy students of our twin school –St. Xavier’s in Manmad.

The Staff had the Secret Santa exchange of gifts among themselves.

On Monday, 22nd December, the School Council organized the School assembly on the grounds and the Stanislites returned to their respective classes to give their attendance and were treated to a gift from the PTA. They were then taken to the School Hall to view the Christmas tableau enacted by the NIOS students. The Choir sang melodiously. Budding violinists of the School showcased their talent by playing Christmas Carols at the end of the play. Spot prizes for every Standard entertained the gathering. At this event, some Stanislites received ‘Certificates of Achievement ’ for the various competitions they had participated in. The Stanislites were later treated to snacks at the end of the programme and the Staff gathered in the Assembly for fellowship. They too received a token of love from the Management with a personalized message on it.
