Britto House Celebrations

The feast of St. John de Britto, patron saint of the Britto House was celebrated on the 5th February 2016.

The Feast Mass was con-celebrated by Fr. Ambrose Machado and Fr. Errol Fernandes.  Fr. Ambrose stressed on learning the local language and whole hearted commitment  to the mission entrusted  to us, that was to be good students.

A short video and skit on the life of St. John de Britto was shown to the boys in the School Hall, followed by a dance showcasing the Britto House motto –“For God and Country”.  Spot prizes were awarded to the boys who correctly answered questions on St. John de Britto.

“It is a great honor & a great glory to serve God”

The highlight of the morning was the Investiture of the new School Council for the year 2016-2017.

RSP Camp to Bordi

The RSP Squad of St Stanislaus High School organized a camp to Bordi on the 18th, 19th & 20th Feb 2016.

58 students of Stds 8 and 9 were given a training in First Aid, Road Safety Rules, Yoga, and an examination was conducted for all the students .

The Camp ended on a fun note with a  Camp Fire and a cultural skit on Road Safety.

Republic Day 2016 Proud to be an Awakened Indian

22  schools from Mumbai came together to create a sense of fervor and patriotism among the students by putting up a Republic Day Parade at Bandstand, Bandra on the 26th January 2016.

The event was represented by personnel  from the Army, Navy and the Air-Force.

The Chief Guest for the morning was Vice-Admiral  R. Harikumar (Naval)

Air Vice Marshal Anil Golani,  Brig. R.S.Rathod (Army) – Chief Administration Officer – Maharashtra,/Guj/Goa. and Col. Maxwel Roberts from the N.C.C. were the other dignitaries present.

The parade was led by a cavalcade of horses, trained and provided by the Amateur Riders Club, Mumbai, followed by cyclists from different schools bearing environment friendly messages, marchers from the 22 schools trained by senior NCC Officers, Mumbai. And floats depicting the cultural diversity of our country.

It was a truly unforgettable day.

152nd ANNUAL SPORTS DAY

The 152nd Sports Day broke with tradition and was held in the morning at 8 a.m, on Saturday, 12th December 2015.

Stanislite Scouts received the Chief Guest Mr. & Mrs. Rony Quadras, parents of the Sports Captain and Guests of Honour Mr. & Mrs. Shodhana Shetty, parents of the Assistant Sports Captain and the Management members with a Guard of Honour.       

The MarchPast was a sight to behold. Each House competing with the other in their momentum. Stanislites cheered their fellow House members as they went past the dais with the Guests.

The Chief Guest declared the Meet Open after the recitation of the Sportsman’s Oath by the Sports Captain

The races and relays by the Stanislites kept the students eyes glued on the tracks. The Mallakhamb and Pyramid display stole the show. The students were spell bound with the body-bending movements the participants made.

Tug-of –War was a real test of strength for the Britto and the Xavier House with the Britto House reigning victorious.

Trophies were presented to the winners of the various races. Britto House bagged the Trophy for the MarchPast. Kostka House reigned supreme in the overall Sports Day events.

Sports Day came to a Close with the handing over of the School emblem to the Sports Captain and a Vote of Thanks by the School Principal Tr. Anna Correa.

Celebration of Xavier House Feast

The feast celebrations of St. Francis Xavier was held on Tuesday, 8th December 2015 after the pilgrimage to the Mount Mary’s Basilica.

This celebration began with a prayer service and the lighting of the lamp by Fr. Jou, Tr. Anna, Xavier House Captain-Master Nahum Lobo, Trs. Sabita and Yvette Coutinho.

A hymn in honour of St. Francis Xavier was sung in Konkani by the Teachers and a PowerPoint presentation on the life of St. Francis Xavier.  An entertaining dance was performed by Std. VIII boys and a quiz on the Jesuit Saints by Fr. Errol kept the Stanislites minds ticking.

Prizes were awarded to the best classes for their Chart displays.

The programme concluded with the singing of the School Anthem.

Annual pilgrimage to Mount Mary’s Basilica

As tradition goes, Stanislites walked their way to Mount Mary’s Basilica on Tuesday, 8th December 2015 for a Eucharistic celebration.

This pilgrimage is held annually to commemorate the “Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary’ and to follow the vow the Bandraites had taken years ago, when Bandra was weighed down by plague. We also celebrated the Feast of our great Jesuit Saint, Saint Francis Xavier. In addition, we began the Year of Mercy as declared by our Holy Father, Pope Francis.

Fr. Charles Rodrigues S.J. was the Main Celebrant at the Mass. Std X students received a special blessing for good health and strength to face life’s challenges as they are on the threshold of life. 

At the end of the Mass the students were treated to a snack and a celebration of the Xavier House Feast in the school

Farewell Tr. Anita Advani

Stanislaus Parivar held a fitting farewell for dear Tr. Anita on completion of her 20 and a half years tenure at the School.

The PTA, Staff and students stole her heart through their dance performance, cards, colourful bouquets and a PowerPoint presentation.

A farewell speech was delivered by Fr. Errol the School Manager and Principal Anna Correa.

The programme concluded with a fellowship meal prepared by the Staff.

So Long Farewell Tr. Freda DeSouza

With heavy hearts, the Staff of the Stanislaus Parivar bid Tr. Freda DeSouza adieu on Friday, 30th October 2015 on her completion of 17 and a half years.

A small felicitation program was held to express their appreciation and gratitude for her contribution and service to the School.

Valedictory speeches by the School Manager –Fr. Errol Fernandes, Ex-Principals –Fr. Lawrie Ferrao and Fr. Jude Fernandes, the Principal Tr. Anna Correa.

The BIRD Principals presence at this event warmed the cockles of her heart.

The sumptuous fellowship meal prepared by the Staff was the icing on the cake.

Rang Bhare – Colouring the life of our students

The Rang Bhare Teacher’s Day Celebration – Colouring the life of our students was held on 30th September at St. Mary’s ICSC, Mazgaon.

With this theme running through, the entire programme planned by the Jesuit Board of Education, for teachers, we the teachers  from the 8 Jesuit schools in Mumbai, were in for a treat.

A prayer service which was based on St. Ignatius’s call, and for us now to go light the world.

The compere for the day was Sheriyar Atai, who not only entertained but facilitated the Panel Discussion by speakers Mr Shishir Hattangadi, Mr Ronak Kapoor, Mr Amol Gupte and Ms Karla Singh.  The emphasis was on how to bring colour into the classrooms and make them vibrant places of learning.

There were different workshops like Photography, Zumba, Speech & Drama, Foreign Language, Mobile Apps, Yoga , Best Taste Test and Calligraphy  which enriched the  teachers.

After lunch, there were different competitions.  St. Stanislaus teachers won 1st  place in the Creative Writing, Human Puzzle and joint 1st  place in Blackboard Comics. 2nd place in Soulful Melodies and 3rd place in the Box Cricket League.

The teachers returned tired, but content with a day well spent.

Hindi Basha Diwas 2015

In keeping with the Hindi Basha Diwas being celebrated nationwide on 14th September, St. Stanislaus School had a weeklong celebration.
The importance of the Hindi language was portrayed through Choral recitation, elocution and short skits. Charts adorned the school classroom boards. Every morning for a week, the School assembly was held in Hindi.

On Saturday, 12th September,  Stds. V-VIII had Choral recitation and Stds IX and X had Elocution competiton. Dr. Faisal Khan an ex-student of the School and Ms. Varsha Yadav judged the student’s performance. Students received certificates at the end of the programme.

On Monday, 14th September Hindi Basha Divas was celebrated in the School auditorium to propagate the use of the National language. The importance of this language was displayed through Mono-acting, dance, skit and a PowerPoint presentation.

The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks by the Principal and the National Anthem sung.
