Annual School Project showcase

Keeping in mind the Stanislite motto “Born for greater things” various opportunities are provided to the boys to showcase their talents. The A.S.P. (Annual School Project) is one of the few which taps into and brings out the best talent in each of our students.  This year we had 55, outstanding students.

On 16th of March we witnessed  a few A.S.P. presentations which were so informative and inspired many students to do better for next forth coming year.

Know Your Army – Stanislaus visits the LOC

The boys of St Stanislaus had the privilege to visit the LOC (Line of Control), Jammu, on the 15th April 2016. This memorable tour was organized by the BIRD Committee.

They were escorted by Captain Ripu Daman Singh and Lt. Gursheen Dillon to Akhnoor.

The students of all the schools on tour had to adhere to the rules and regulations of the Army, And being punctual was a must.

They were also given an opportunity to try hands on the various guns and gadgets.  And were impressed with the combat display and Arms and Infantry weapons.

At the Kachirial, CBS (Cops Battle School), Sarol,  & Keri base, they were made aware of the hardships faced on the LOC and AIOS.  Demos on Bunker clearing drills, introduction to a 7 obstacles course and a Tank ride gave them the experience of stepping into the shoes of an Army man and understanding the hurdles he faces. The Visit to the Hall Of Fame made them realize the precious contribution made by these soldiers for our Great Motherland.

A lot of learning and memorable moments, filled with inspiration and excitement, helped the students learn the life of the Indian Army .

Inter-School Basketball Tournament 2016

St Stanislaus High School proudly hosted the inter-school basketball tournament for the fourth consecutive year. This game has provided a platform to schools from Bandra to Malad and beyond, bonding them in the spirit of equality and team play.  48 teams participated in the U-12, U-14 & U-16 categories, boys and girls.

The inaugural ceremony began with the National Anthem, and tournament was thrown open with the release of balloons, followed by the School Anthem.

The SPECIAL Schools – Disha Karnabadhir Vidyalaya and Utkarsh Mookdhwani Vidyalaya showcased their talent in true spirit and grit, and proved themselves victorious.

The host team U-16 boys played against Bombay Scottish School. 

The host team U-14 won the finals.

Ms. Poonam Mahajan (MP) and President of the Maharashtra Basketball Association presided over the Awards ceremony.

Marathi Diwas - 27/02/2016

The preparations for Marathi Diwas started from the 22nd February, 2016 with beautiful charts on poems, stories, cleanliness, etc., made and displayed by the boys in their classrooms and on the school notice boards. A Marathi Handwriting Competition was also held during the week. The assemblies too were in Marathi. The boys were enthusiastically gearing up for the ‘Marathi Diwas’.

“SWACHATA RAKHA – NISARG WACHWA”

The ‘Marathi Diwas’ program was held on the 27th of February from 9:40 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. in the school hall. The Chief Guest for the program was our very own Vice Principal, Fr. Andrew Fernandes. The program started by the lighting of the lamp by the Principal Tr. Anna, Vice-Principal Fr. Andrew, Tr. Ruby, Tr. Neeta and the Head Boy, Ojas Jadhav.

This was followed by:

1. Prayer Song

2. Speech on the importance of Marathi Diwas

3. Folk Dances

4. Powada

5. Maaji Baag – an action song

6. Play on Cleanliness

7. A PowerPoint presentation on conservation of the environment.

Certificates to the winners of the Marathi Hand Writing Competition were distributed to the students by the Principal Tr. Anna, Fr. Andrew and Tr. Ruby.

The program concluded with a Vote of Thanks given by the Principal Tr. Anna.

The students and teachers enjoyed the program thoroughly.

Scouts Thinking Day 23rd February 2016

12 schools from The Western Suburban Bharat Scouts and Guides celebrated “Thinking Day”, commemorating the birth anniversary of their founder, Lord Baden Powell.

The programme started off with the hoisting of the Scout’s flag.  Various competitions, like marching, lezim, Creative Arts which included rangoli, drawing , handicrafts, and a folk dance competition wherein the dancers gracefully displayed the rich culture of our State.

St. Stanislaus walked away with three trophies - The First Prize in Marching, The highest Khari Kamai collected and the The Best School -  Scouts.

The programme ended by the lowering of the flag and singing of the National Anthem.

Desh Apnayen Awards 2015-2016

Fr Andrew Rodrigues, was conferred with the “Champion Teacher Award” under Desh Apnayen Teacher’s Award category, 2015-2016.

These awards are the Foundation’s gesture to recognize the endeavors of schools and teachers in promoting citizenship education and civic participation among its young students.

St. Stanislaus School’s philosophy to encourage students to be change makers, modest and to always keep in mind the community development and social impact that they create is truly inspiring and commendable.

A small gift hamper was handed over to Fr. Andrew Rodrigues. And a small token of appreciation was also handed over to the Principal, Mrs. Anna Correa, for her support and leadership – The Desh Apnayen Pledge and a small gift hamper was also bestowed.

Visit to Shanti Daan Ashram

57 boys of the JCP (Jesuit Certificate Programme) visited Shanti Daan Ashram, Borivali (W), an organization for the disabled and differently abled  children.  This Institution is run by the Missionaries of Charity and inaugurated by Mother Theresa in 1981.

There are approximately 200 boys and30 caretakers.  The head of the organization, Brother Oscar spoke of the plight of the children and the function of the Ashram.  The children are taught to make candles and other handicrafts.

Joshua Vaz wins Inter-school YMCA English Elocution

Joshua Vaz, of Std.VII B, secured the First place in the 31st Annual Inter-school 

YMCA English Elocution held on the 20th February 2016.

Britto House Celebrations

The feast of St. John de Britto, patron saint of the Britto House was celebrated on the 5th February 2016.

The Feast Mass was con-celebrated by Fr. Ambrose Machado and Fr. Errol Fernandes.  Fr. Ambrose stressed on learning the local language and whole hearted commitment  to the mission entrusted  to us, that was to be good students.

A short video and skit on the life of St. John de Britto was shown to the boys in the School Hall, followed by a dance showcasing the Britto House motto –“For God and Country”.  Spot prizes were awarded to the boys who correctly answered questions on St. John de Britto.

“It is a great honor & a great glory to serve God”

The highlight of the morning was the Investiture of the new School Council for the year 2016-2017.
