Dear Parents,
Greetings to you.The Winter vacations have ended and now we look forward to a New Year 2010 and the Fourth Unit tests. The school provides yet another opportunity to improve the grades for the academic year. I am sure you will give more time to studies and other academic expectations. Here is a reminder sent to you. Please explain and acquaint your son with the following rules.
Enjoy this winter season.
The three bell formula:
The three ring formula is to be in place when we begin and after every break.
At the beginning of the day and after the two breaks
1st ring - SILENCE and students freeze where they are.
(duration 30 seconds)
2nd ring – SILENCE and students & teachers move towards their classes.
(duration 7 mins)
3rd ring – SILENCE and students & teachers are in their seats, we begin with the National
Anthem and 3 mins silence, the intercom assembly and prayers follows.
Teachers and leaders to take their position before the first ring.
Permanent Record of all Remarks: ( The PCR system)
The new system of keeping track of all Remarks & Merits recorded in the calendar will be followed.
A system called the Yellow Card system will be introduced soon. Each student will have an individual Personal Card Record (PCR) similar to the library card. This card will be maintained by the Class teacher all through the year. The card will reflect the student status in the class. Calendar data will be transferred to the card monthly by the Class teacher.
Data from this card will be used for updating the Student record on the computer. This record will be carried forward to the Leaving Certificate at the end of the student’s career.
Merits and improvement progress will also be recorded on this card.
These cards will be kept with the Class teacher.
Follow up of Students who get a “Due for Red Card” Remark:
A student who gets more than 5 Remarks in the calendar will be given a “due for a Red Card” remark. Subsequently, teachers will be alert to such students and mentally record their behaviour pattern progress. In case there is no progress, a red card will be issued in consultation with the Academic Council teachers and parents. Refer calendar rules pg 29.
Respect for leaders and the School Council:
Every student is expected to respect the leaders and the Student Council and obey the instructions given to them promptly, failing which strict action will be taken.
Merits and their value:
Star system to be introduced and certificates to be awarded to meritorious students.
Report Cards to reflect the students behaviour:
All report cards have a remark column. Teachers could use this column to reflect the behaviour of the student. The PCR could be used for this.
Movement of students in and out of class:
Follow the left hand rule and maintain silence with hands behind. This left hand rule (LHR) will be followed all through.
