Global Warming
We are all aware of Global Warming and its effects on us. Yet we are reluctant to deviate from our normal routine if it means to us but, when it comes from little children it is a wake up call for all of us.
Here’s a report on the exhibition, on the theme ‘Global Warming’ at St. Stanislaus High School, Primary Section, held on Saturday 07th February,2009.
Charts, models, worksheets, art work and craft formed the basis of this exhibition. It was effort at its best, between parent and child in which who educated whom could be anybody’s guess. The children were encouraged by their teachers to research. Modern Technology that our children are so savvy at, was used to the hilt. The children
showed how melting snow, rising waters, piercing of the ozone layer are all effects of man’s greed and misuse of resources. The Art and Craft teachers became the consultants. The final product was just amazing.
A very practical measure to conserve electricity was suggested by Mrs. Mayrose D’Souza the Headmistress of the Primary Section. Fans in the classrooms to be switched off for an hour everyday. The suggestion was accepted without any fuss. Teachers and students welcomed the idea.
It is a high time we sit up and think how our Mother Earth is being abused by our lack of knowledge, concern and apathy.
