Doctor’s Day was celebrated on Wednesday, 30th June 2010 wherein Parent Doctors as well as doctors in the vicinity were felicitated for all the selfless work they do. The main focus of this Doctor’s Meet is to create an awareness of Public Health and Hygiene in the society and plan future medical programmes for our students.

Suzuki violin training for Stds. I & II

Stanislaus School has organized Suzuki violin training for Stds. I & II only with the help of the tutors from the NCPA (National Centre of Performing Arts). Those students wishing to enroll can do so.

The Suzuki method is a way of learning to play music. In the beginning, learning music by ear is emphasized over reading musical notation. The method also encourages, in addition to individual playing, frequent playing in groups (including playing in unison) and frequent public performance, so that playing is so far as possible natural and enjoyable.

Field trip for the 9th standard students

48 students of Standard 9 were taken on a 2 day all expenses paid educational tour of the Silicon Valley of the East- Bengaluru by Livewire Learning as an award for their exceptional performance in the Step Up! programme. The trip was aimed at showing the students how Information Technology has changed India's status in the world in the last 2 decades and how they could be the architects of India's future.

They visited the Hindustan Aeronautics Lab Museum and learnt about India's air defence and space programme, followed by a visit to the Supercomputer Lab at the prestigious Indian Institute of Science.

The next day they attended the SPARK programme at INFOSYS that ignited in their minds a spark to think big and achieve excellence. This was followed by a tour of the exceptionally beautiful and eco friendly INFOSYS campus.

Classes in Marathi-Hindi for parents

Dear Parent,

It is with great pleasure that our teachers have taken the initiative of conducting Marathi and Hindi classes for Parents interested in learning the languages. These classes will be conducted every Saturday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. The book for reference will be “Simple sketches for Languages” by Varsha Wakde that has already been provided to your son along with his set of books. Parents are requested to avail themselves of this opportunity and register themselves in the Secondary School Office by 3rd July 2010 as we plan to begin on that day.

With reference to the query raised by parents regarding the Marathi and Hindi books during the Parent’s Interaction for Std 5 on 26th June 2010, the list of books is mentioned below:

Marathi:
1.    Marathi Text book – (to be carried daily to school)
2.    Printed Marathi notes – ( to be brought daily to school)
3.    Rapid Reader – “Chimukli Aesop Nithi” ( to be brought to school when teacher asks for it)
4.    Handwriting Practice book – “Adarsh Marathi Lekhan” ( also to be brought when teacher asks for it)
5.    Grammar Book (not recommended by school)
6.    “Simple Sketches for Languages” by Varsha Wakde ( recommended for parents as a help and a guide)
7.    Composition book for fair work in class (100 pgs double blue lines)

Glorious 50 Years of Maharashtra

At Stanislaus, 1st May, 2010 was different than that of the yester years because our state Maharashtra was celebrating its Golden year of Statehood.

The function was presided over by our recently retired Supervisor –Ms. Philomena Pereira and Guest of Honour Mr. Tushar Aphale.

Inspite of it being vacation time for the Stanislites, they came for practices and prepared a programme on the History of Maharashtra depicting the culture of Maharashtra through folk dances like the Farmer’s dance, the Koli dance, Warli dance and the Lavani not forgetting the celebration of Lord Ganesha, the work of Saints and Leaders of Maharashtra. At the end of this, Shivaji Maharaj made his grand entry with Lezim dancers.

The winners of the Best Dressed Indian Outfit Competition and Quiz competition on the History of Maharashtra and current affairs, were felicitated with certificates. Our guests then addressed the Stanislites with a message of keeping the flag of our country flying high with proper ideals.

The highlight of this programme was the release of the Annual School Magazine by our Principal. The programme ended with a Vote of Thanks by our Principal –Fr. Jude Fernandes SJ

Yugantar- Teacher Workshop, St. Stanislaus High School, 17th and 24th April

Yugantar, a workshop for all teachers of the school (KG, Primary and Secondary) was conducted on 17th and 24th April 2010 by Livewire Learning. The workshop was focused on two aspects of the teacher’s life; one- the teacher as an individual and two-the teacher as a professional.

The modules for the teacher as an individual focused on Stress Management by Staying Alert, Personal and Financial Security and Time Management.

The modules for the teacher as a professional focused on the changing world around us and how the teacher could harness the changes for his/her own development. The future of education in India and its implications for a teacher’s career and the need for self development in core subject areas/ functional areas were discussed.
Finally the teachers were given some time to introspect and put down their goals, aspirations and action plans in both the personal and professional spheres as an outcome of the workshop.

146th Annual Sports Day

St. Stanislaus High School celebrated their 146th Annual Athletic Meet on Saturday, 5th December 2009 at 1:30 p.m.

The Chief Guest was Mr. & Mrs. Ravindran, parents of Master Sumit Ravindran, the Sports Captain and Mr. Mario Rodrigues and Mrs.Anna Abraham were the Guest of Honour being parents of the Assistant Sports Captain, Mr. Romario Rodrigues.

Seated on the dais were other invitees. It was a memorable afternoon highlighting various events under the guidance of trained personnel.Kostka House bagged the trophy for the MarchPast.

Pilgrimage to Mt. Mary’s Basilica

Year after year, the Staff and students of St. Stanislaus School have been going on this pilgrimage to Mt. Mary’s Basilica. It is a tradition which has been originated as an epidemic ravaged our School many years ago. The then Principal sought Divine intervention and made a vow that if our School was spared, its students would go on an annual pilgrimage to the Mount, a promise that we honour till this day.

We are here today (Tuesday, 8^th December 2009) to praise and thank our Almighty God without whom, the first line of our School’s 146 year history could not have been written. It is He who has sustained us and He will take our school through and beyond the next decade.

We are also here today to ask God’s blessings on the students of Std. X.
