First Aid Awareness Course for the Teachers

SSESA’s First Aid Awareness Course for the Teachers of St. Stanislaus High School was held on Tuesday 16th October 2008 at the AV Room in the School. It had a very positive response from the teachers. Lasting almost two hours, the event was conducted by pediatric surgeon Dr. Bhalchandra Jayakar (Batch of 1987). His wife, Dr. Priti, a laproscopic surgeon also accompanied him.

Dr. Jayakar started his presentation seeking the blessings of the teachers who had once taught him. The extensive presentation covered a wide-range of issues from cuts, burns, fractures to dog bites, drowning and electric shocks. For such a long presentation, Dr. Jayakar kept up the tempo with his sense of humour. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session where the teachers had an opportunity to clear their doubts. More than 50 teachers attended. They were very thankful to Dr. Jayakar and are looking forward to a follow-up session after a few months.

This event will be followed up by a First Aid Awareness Course for the Students, which will be held on 12th November at the school.

This event was conducted by St.Stanislaus Ex-students Association

Letter from the Principal

Dear Parents / Guardians,

As we end the academic year 2007 - 2008 and begin the next one, let us keep the following in mind.

i. Standard III and Standard VII will have new text books.

ii. Radiant Readers in Hindi for standards V to VIII have been introduced.

iii. Attached with the Mark sheet, is a detailed syllabus for next year, kindly preserve this copy for the beginning of the year.

iv. Unit test will be conducted by the subject teachers as soon as they finish the unit test portion as mentioned in the syllabus. No formal time-table will be given for the unit tests. The student will write the unit test date in the space provided in the school calendar when announced in the class. The class period will be used to conduct the test. This we hope will make the student revise and study daily. Parents need not be stressed about unit tests as the subject teacher will teach, revise and conduct the test regularly in class.

v. Daily home-work and notes need to be completed and parents must guide and follow the student's work ( refer to the calendar ‘Recommendation to Parents')

vi. Neatness in dressing is demanded from every Stanislite all through the year. Every student must come in his full school uniform for the day. School ties will be worn on occasions and on the day of assembly.

vii. Scout uniforms or P. T shirts must be used as per the time table.

viii Standard VIII will have R.S.P (Road Safety Patrol ) in place of Social Service. They will be trained by a special Traffic Police Staff.

ix. All students of Standard IX will have I.T (Computers) for work experience.

x. The school timings for Saturday only will be from 7:30 am to 1:05 pm. The first bell will, therefore, ring at 7:20 am. We hope parents will be happy to have their children home early on the week end. Other days, the school will work as of last year, as we need to make time for our sports boys to practice in the mornings. The long recess is a time for more interaction with friends in school.

This year almost all students from Standard I to IX have passed and we thank all the teachers and parents who have worked hard. The present year has been a glorious season for our sports boys with them bagging most of the football and hockey prestigious trophies including the Aga Khan trophy. Our cricket tournament - ‘Lawrie's XI' had nine schools participating on Shivaji Park grounds. Our students have learnt Karate, Swimming, and professional Dancing ( from DanceWorx). Next year we intend moving further.

We are sure you will walk with us while we groom your son to face the changing world.

For Cathedral Kavan Modi and arav Hazari converted their penalty kicks. This win brought the schools football season to an end. Mumbai Ranji trophy captain Amol Muzumdar was the guest of honour and gave away the trophies.

Nathan Rozario's hat-trick and a brace each by Jarad D'souza and Troystan Fernandes saw St. Stanislaus (Bandra) drub St. Francis D'Assisi (Borovli) 8-0 to enter the semi-finals of the boys under-8 in the MSSA-NIKE Inter School football tournament, co-sponsored by Saran Sports Centre, Azad Maidan yesterday.
