“There are no goodbyes for us. Wherever you are, you will always be in my heart.” – Mahatma Gandhi
Mrs. Anna Correa joined the school in the year 1988. She became the first laywoman principal in the 152-year-old history of the school (Source- Wikipedia). The below Headline from the newspaper Hindustan Times still reverberates in the hearts of the Management, Staff, and students as they bid farewell to their Principal Mrs. Anna Correa who has served the institution with all her heart and soul:
“Bandra’s all-boys Stanislaus school gets its first woman principal” (Source- Apr 28, 2015, Hindustan Times)
Principal Mrs. Anna Correa has achieved great success in all that she endeavoured during her entire tenure in the school as a Teacher, Supervisor, and Principal. She has touched the lives of not only her students but also her teaching and non-teaching staff. As the school now bids farewell to their first lady principal, a poem by P.B Shelley titled ‘Ozymandias’ comes to mind which talks about a king who made monuments and statues of himself. But as years passed by they were all destroyed and buried in the vast endless desert sands. Unlike this king, some others leave their legacy in the hearts of people which is never destroyed. Such a person is Principal Mrs. Anna Correa. She has scripted love and enduring respect in the hearts of all those who came in touch with her. Unlike buried monuments of stone what she has authored in everyone’s hearts will live on forever. As spoken in a famous movie, ‘Mr. Holland's Opus'(1995):
“Look around you. There is not a life in this room that you have not touched, and each one of us is a better person because of you.”
One of the greatest lessons you have shown is that you cared for all. Therefore you earned the trust and respect of all who came into contact with you. The respect you showed, your willingness, and eagerness to involve everyone in taking decisions are things that will be remembered. You were dedicated to your task, sincere to the core, simple in life, able to remain calm under pressure and never yielding to anger. You not only were able to improve the overall results of the school but also created a stress-free learning environment for the students. You always tried your best to improve the quality of the teaching-learning process. You always encouraged the development of the staff through education and research.
Your student-friendly approach and your understanding of the background of each student, showing extra concern for those having problems–both academic and personal–will fondly be remembered for a long time to come. Your systematic approach to things and your emphasis on punctuality made the school environment pleasant. Hence, this goodbye seems to be a difficult one for all. But as they say,
“Goodbyes are not forever, Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I’ll miss you, Until we meet again.”
You will always be in the hearts of your Management, Staff, and students here at St. Stanislaus High School. A heart full of gratitude for all your contributions towards this great and prestigious Institution. A grand farewell celebration awaits you when the entire school comes together after this pandemic situation. With every ending there has to be a New Beginning and the school welcomes their New Principal- Sr. Arockiammal Anthony, Vice- Principal Fr. Felix D’Souza, and Supervisor Ms. Charmaine Pereira. Wishing Mrs. Anna Correa all the very best for her future endeavours.
