Annual pilgrimage to the Mount and Xavier House Celebration

On 3rd December, the students and staff of the school upheld a cherished tradition by walking to the Mount, reciting the rosary and singing hymns, to seek blessings from Our Lady of the Mount. The occasion marked the feast of St. Francis Xavier, a Jesuit saint known for his missionary work and his role in founding the Society of Jesus (The Jesuits).

The highlight of the celebration was the Eucharistic service, with Fr. Frazer Mascarenhas S.J. as the main celebrant. During the service, the students of Std. X received a special blessing for good health and strength to face life’s challenges, particularly the forthcoming SSC examinations. After the mass, all students were treated to a snack. Std. X students then posed for a group photograph at the Mount before heading home, while students from Std. V to IX returned to school for the Xavier House celebration.

The Xavier House programme began with a solemn prayer service in the school hall. This was followed by an inspiring video presentation on the life of St. Francis Xavier and the Xavier House motto, “Character in Excellence.” A quiz competition based on the video and the saint's life added an engaging and competitive spirit to the event. Winners of the quiz and the chart competition, which was held earlier in the week, were recognized and awarded during the prize distribution ceremony.

The day concluded with an exhilarating friendly throw ball match between the teachers and the students of Xavier House. The Student Council emerged victorious in the match, adding to the joyous atmosphere. The celebration ended on a high note with the singing of the school anthem, leaving everyone with fond memories of the day.

The Feast Day celebration was not only a tribute to St. Francis Xavier but also an occasion to strengthen the bond among students and staff while promoting values of faith, character, and excellence.
