Doctors Day is celebrated on July 1 all across India to honour the legendary physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy. He was born on July 1, 1882 and died on the same date in 1962, aged 80 years. Dr Roy was honoured with the country's highest civilian award, Bharat Ratna on February 4, 1961.
Doctor's Day is observed to lay emphasis on the value of doctors in our lives. July 1 pays a perfect tribute to all the doctors who have made relentless efforts towards achieving improvements in the medical field irrespective of the odds.
Nine doctors attended the Doctors Day program in School. The programme started with a prayer. The doctors introduced themselves and the fields they specialized in. They then answered questions & queries put forth by the students.
A short skit prepared by the PTA members highlighted self-diagnosis and how we use the internet to detect and try to treat diseases on our own.
The doctors were given a small token of appreciation, followed by a delicious lunch.
