Van Mahotsav or ‘Forest festival', is an annual one-week tree-planting festival in India which is celebrated in the first week of July. St Stanislaus High School celebrated Van Mahotsav week from 4th July to 9th July, 2022.
On Saturday 9th July, Nature club committee Sir Elias (in-charge), Sir Nithyanand, Trs. Casey, Sadaf, Libnah and Gloria along with our boys assembled in the school auditorium. The programme started with an introduction and appreciation of the boys to be a part of the club. Vice principal Fr. Felix D’souza SJ accompanied us in invoking God’s blessings and added value to the celebration. Boys of Std 6th A contributed by enacting in a street play which indeed was an eye opener as it stressed on using the 3Rs reduce, reuse and recycle.
Thereafter a video on the significance of Van Mahostav was presented to all. This was followed by a meaningful song, ‘Na Kaato Mujhe Dukhta Hai’ that highlighted the pain of Mother Earth and nature which is gradually ceasing to exist due to the impetuous attitude of human beings. Fr Felix gave an inspiring thought on Care for Nature.
After this, a small sapling was planted by Fr. Felix and the nature club committee teachers. The programme ended with the distribution of caps and saplings to each student with a promise to grow and nurture that plant into a huge one and become nature crusaders.
