Farewell Teacher Thelma Rose Misquitta

The 30th of August 2011 was a red letter day for Stanislaus School, as Stanislites assembled in our School Hall for a very special reason and more so for an exceptional person. It was the grand farewell to our teacher, Tr. Thelma, who after a glorious 34 years and 2 months innings at Stanislaus was bidding Au Revoir!

Book review competition at Gharda Memorial Library

The Bai Ratanbai Gharda Memorial Library in Bandra hosted a book review competition on the occasion of ‘Pustakalaya Diwas’ on 12th August 2011 in St. Stanislaus High School.

The participants were given 10 Fiction books. Titles being Percy Jackson series and The House of Night series - like Marked, Betrayed, Chosen to name a few. Participation from the school children was good and encouraging. Plant, Nurture, Save Forests !

The International Year of Forests was the theme chosen by the UN for this year and we at St. Stanislaus High School selected this as our theme for the Annual Prize Day which was held on Saturday, 27th August 2011. The programme revolved around the central theme of Shel Silverstein’s ‘The Giving Tree’. This was portrayed through a dance (choreographed by Danceworx), a choral recitation and an enactment of ‘The Giving Tree’ that brought out the message on the conservation of forests.

The Bandra Gymkhana 64th Inter-school Elocution Competition

The Bandra Gymkhana 64th Inter-school Elocution competition was held from 25th August to 27th August in which 36 schools and 442 children participated. Three of St. Stanislaus High School, Bandra boys, Craig D’Silva (12 to 15 yrs), Warren D’Silva (8 to 12 years) and Jayden D’Mello (under 8) represented the school and won a trophy for the highest aggregate obtained amongst the boy’s schools. Independence Day celebrations at St. Stanislaus High School

There is no greater celebration than the celebration of freedom and so on 15th August 2011, the entire nation was again ready to celebrate the 65th year of India’s Independence.

Keeping this same spirit of patriotism aflame and remembering with pride our freedom fighters who endured all struggles to attain freedom for us, the Stanislites geared themselves to pledge their respect and love for their country India.

Inter Religious Prayer Service

On Saturday, 13th August 2011, the school celebrated “Manavta Hi Hamara Dharm Hai” for children, teachers, parents and guests reflecting a serene vision of 8 diverse faiths. Devotional songs, dances and melodious bhajans were a strong inspiration to all present. Loyola House Feast

Loyola House Feast was celebrated on Saturday, 30th July 2011 with great pomp. Celebrations began with the Eucharist. The main celebrant being Fr. Paul Coutinho. The melodious choir played a crucial role in making the Eucharist even more meaningful and belted out the hymn ‘Noble Knight’. The mass was attended by Ex-teachers too.

The Jesuit fathers of the Parish were felicitated for their relentless efforts and cooperation in building up a student’s character.

Rushad Captain wins bronze at Commonwealth karate championships

Master Rushad Y. Captain, aged 13 years studying in St. Stanislaus High School in Std. 9C, is a Black Belt. He goes to “All India Gojukai Karate Do” for his karate training. He is trained by Kyoshi Vispi Kapadia since the age of 6 years.Rushad has won many medals for Karate at the State and District levels and has represented India in International Tournaments.

Jesuit Teachers Sammelan at Stanislaus

July 29,2011 was an all Mumbai Jesuit school teachers’ meet where 450 teachers  gathered with their respective principals. The prayer service conducted by Fr Andrew, SJ and team with a bhajan set the mood of the day. Fr. Francis Swamy, SJ welcomed and  explained the purpose of this meeting.
