What does it profit a man to gain the whole world but suffer the loss of his soul’ – these profound words perfectly sum up the life of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of The Society of Jesus, whose feast we celebrate on the 31St of July every year.
It was a week long celebration that began with the children being shown videos on the life and journey of St. Ignatius of Loyola to sainthood. This was followed up by various interesting and meaningful activities conducted by the teachers for the boys.
The boys were then taken up to the hall where a meaningful prayer service was conducted after an introduction on St. Ignatius of Loyola. This was followed by a short but inspiring talk by Fr. Assis Rodrigues who encouraged the boys to give more of themselves to all they do thereby bringing forth the Ignatian ideal of the Magis.
A quiz was then conducted to ascertain how much do the children know about St. Ignatius of Loyola. The children participated very enthusiastically in the quiz and were rewarded equally well for their correct answers.
The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks given by our headmistress Tr. Jennifer Pereira. This week long celebration indeed reiterated the principles and values upheld by St. Ignatius of Loyola and has surely inspired us to ‘Go forth and set the world on fire’.
