150 Years of Stanislaus School keeping the quest for Hockey Alive

The Fr.Donnelly Gym Grounds experienced the Sesquicentennial Interschool Hockey Tournament which began on Tuesday, 29th January 2013 with Fr. Vernon D’Cunha Provincial of the Bombay Jesuits inaugurating it.

A total of eight schools, from all over Mumbai, participated in three different categories i.e. Girls Under-14, Boys Under-12 and Under-14. There was a hockey exhibition match between the Stanislaus School Staff and the parents and also the ex-Stanislites and the select Mumbai team.

Wednesday, 30th January  was a special day for the school. Amidst us was Mr. Francis D’mello former India player of the School’s 1971 batch, Joaquim Carvalho, Marcellus Gomes, John Fernandes and Viren Rasquinha  hockey stars who had left their footprints behind.  The highlight of the tournament was the pledge taken by our yesteryear hockey stars along with the School principals in support of hockey within the school structure. We want schools to boost up interest in hockey.

‘WE PRINCIPALS OF VARIOUS SCHOOLS, PARENTS AND STARS IN HOCKEY, PLEDGE TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT HOCKEY OUR NATIONAL SPORT IN THE BEST POSSIBLE WAY IN OUR SCHOOLS……SO HELP US GOD.’
